Xiaomi took out all digital stops on Monday to show off its latest smartphone Crown Jewel, the Mi 11 Ultra, as the Chinese company launched a flagship Mi Ultra phone globally for the first time. The Mi 11 Ultra, which is announced on Monday in an hour-long virtual event with the Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Lite 5G, is the kind of top-of-the-kind Android phone you can expect from a top-profile Android phone. The line is working with specs. It is 2021.

But its standout feature is a second screen, a feature that is even more unusual when you consider the Mi 11 Ultra which is not a foldable phone.

There is a display on the front, of course – a 6.81-inch AMOLED panel. But to the right of the three rear cameras is a second, smaller screen located on the giant camera bump. The display takes the form of 1.1-inch AMOLED, which Xiaomi says is useful for battery information, timing and incoming calls such as phone down notifications and alerts. More importantly, it displays a selfie preview, meaning that you can rely on the Mi 11 Ultra’s three “pro-grade” rear cameras to take selfies.

The Mi 11 Ultra’s rear camera module features a 50-megapixel main sensor as well as a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 48-megapixel periscope-style telephoto lens. The text on the Garguan camera bump lists “120x”, surpassing Samsung’s signature 100x space zoom feature seen on recent ultra versions of the S20, S21 and Note 20. Apart from this it has 10x optical zoom, which makes the Mi 11 Ultra an enhanced zoom king.

As you’d expect for a flagship, the Mi 11 Ultra also has a laundry list of top-notch specs: a crystalline display; The fastest Android processor, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888; A large 5,000-mAh battery; A set of stereo speakers co-developed by Herman Kardon; And a trifecta of fast charge support.

Xiaomi has not yet announced prices outside of China, but the 256GB version, which is an internationally launched model, will sell for 6,499 yuan (about $ 990, £ 715 or AU $ 1,295). For more information, have a look at the specs chart below.
