Xiaomi Launches Mi Mix Fold, its First Folding Smartphone

The name Mi Mix is ‚Äč‚Äčsynonymous with designs that reflect the latest trends, with the original Mi Mix being one of the first “borderless” smartphones to arrive in 2017. The main AMOLED screen of the Mi Mix Folder measures 8.01 inches and features 2480 x. 1860 pixel resolution and HDR 10 +. When it turns off, you’ll be seeing a second 6.52-inch AMOLED screen on the front of the phone, which has a 90Hz refresh rate and 2520 x 840 pixel resolution.

A complex hinge features folding and revealing of the phone, and has been engineered and tested a million times, suggesting considerable durability. The screen is not the only flexible component, as Xiaomi has integrated graphite layers to enhance cooling that also bends with the phone. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 12 GB RAM, and a 5,020mAh battery with 67,0 watts fast charging. Other features include quad speakers produced by Harmon Kardon and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity but, unusually, the phone does not have a camera set in the unfolded screen, so video calls and selfies will only work as the phone folds. .

There are four cameras at the back of the Mi Mix fold, one inside the module that is reminiscent of the design seen on the Mi 11. The main 108-megapixel camera is included with a 13MP ultraviolet camera, 30MP telephoto camera with optical zoom, and an 8MP macro camera. All of this is powered by Xiaomi’s new Surge C1 Image Signal Processor (ISP), which it says will provide faster focus, a higher dynamic range and better white balance.

Xiaomi has so far announced the Mi Mix fold only for China, where it costs around US $ 1,520, making it one of the cheapest foldable smartphones to launch yet. Until now only released in China, the phone will not have Google Mobile services installed. Whether Mi Mix folds, or sequels, will eventually make it into Xiaomi’s other markets is not yet unknown.
