Best Touchscreen Laptop: HP Spector x360 13

Hp specter x360 15 2019 review
Mark Coppock /

Why you should buy this: You want a flexible laptop that performs well in all categories.

who is it for: Professionals, perfectionists and people who want a really good laptop.

Why we chose HP Specter x360 13:

It is not often that we give a correct review score to any laptop, but getting a laptop like HP Specter x360 13 is a rare occurrence. This incredible laptop features a beautiful “gem-cut” design, amazing battery life, a keyboard that feels great to use, and 2-in-1 features if you want to turn it into a sketch as a tablet, So take notes, etc. Everything is there, and manages to do it all well.

The touchscreen itself is a bright HD display that comes with an easy power saving mode that can adjust the screen so that your battery doesn’t waste too much juice on it. As might be expected from HP laptops, the onboard has a lot of security features, including a facial recognition camera and a fingerprint scanner. Ports include two USB-C, USB-A3.1 and MicroSD with Thunderbolt 3 support.

The model we tested offered an 8-gen Core i7 process, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of SSD, but these specs may vary depending on your pics and make the laptop more powerful if you wish. Even better, HP has announced an updated Specter x360 13 that fixes the main issue of 2-in-1 – giant bezels – with a smaller-bezel design, powering with Intel’s new 10-gen CPU Ramps up, and offers a new 4K OLED. The best touchscreen Chromebook: Google Pixelbook Go

Google pixelbook go not pink prototype

Why should you buy it: This is a versatile and powerful Chromebook that can do almost anything.

what’s that for: Students who want a Chromebook, who will be the ultimate and the professional who likes Chrome OS.

Why we chose Google Pixelbook Go:

Do you lack storage on a Chromebook? Google has an agreement with its 2-in-1 Pixelbook Go. It provides more power and space so it can function as a more versatile laptop than other, more streamlined Chromebooks (even at higher costs,).

Pixelbook Go is equipped with a 13.3 inch display, which can be upgraded from full HD to 4K if you want. From Intel Core M3 to Core i7, you get a wide choice in processors, which is essential for you. RAM ranges from 8GB to 15GB and storage from 64GB to 256GB SSD drives.

The battery for the Go is rated at around 12 hours of standard activity, making it a long-lasting device. You will need some dongles or adapters, however, its port selection is limited to just one USB-C and one headphone jack.

Best Touchscreen 2-in-1: Microsoft Surface Pro 7

1594726808 607 the best touchscreen laptops of 2020

Why should you buy it: This is the best 2-in-1 you can buy, hands down.

what’s that for: Mobile professionals and those who want a Windows 10 tablet.

Why we chose Microsoft Surface Pro 7:

The Surface Pro line has always been a high-end alternative to the excellent 2-in-1 model, and the Surface Pro 7 line adds some long-awaited features that make it even more ready for today’s business world. If you want the best Windows 10 tablet, this is your top choice and our current favorite is 2-in-1.

It comes with a 12.3-inch UHD touchscreen and a number of processor options, up to the 10th-gen Intel Core i7 chip for the latest performance. You can select up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage – this means that this slim laptop can become as powerful as you need.

There’s also a USB-C port, something the Pro 6 lacked, plus USB-A, a headphone jack, port for Surface Connect and Surface Type cover, and a microSDXC card reader. While the battery is rated for 10.5 hours, our tests showed that it performed slightly worse than the Pro 6, possibly due to higher processor speeds and better performance properties.

Best touchscreen laptop under $ 500: Dell Inspiron 14 7000

Why should you buy it: A solid laptop that is more affordable than ever.

what’s that for: Those who need a touchscreen on a budget, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.

Why we chose Dell Inspiron 14 7000:

This 14-inch Inspiron model offers larger screens than many of our pics, and is a particularly low price for lightweight touchscreen laptops, a great option for those looking to save money. The model has upgrades to Intel Core i5 processors and 6GB RAM-in specs, but will also increase costs. Storage, however, can easily go up to 1TB without affecting the price too much. Ports include USB-A 3.0, SD card slot and HDMI and are well positioned, exposing the robust design of this Dell laptop.

Of course, you leave little for a low price. The display is only 1080p, which is useful for most tasks, but is disappointing if you’re looking for Ultra HD. There is no USB-C option for more advanced connections. Battery life is idle at about 8 hours and 10 minutes for our original “Readers” test. Although looking at the cheaper price, those negatives seem like an understandable compromise.

Best touchscreen laptop for students: Microsoft Surface Go 2

Luke Larson /

Why should you buy it: This 2-in-1 is an easy, durable option when you are always on the move.

what’s that for: Students and professionals who do not need to get Surface Pro.

Why we chose Microsoft Surface Go 2:

The Go 2 improves the affordable 2-in-1 in many ways, especially with a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen that improves HD screen resolution and extends battery life by up to 10 hours. At just 1.2 pounds, it is the lightest option on our list, too, which is ideal for carrying with you throughout the day.

You can choose up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage, but we like lower specs that keep the price down. At the base level, it is the cheapest surface device that Microsoft offers, and within a wide range of budgets. Perfect for those who don’t need to buy Surface Pro or they can’t justify it. However you will need to buy an optional type cover to give this 2-in-1 full laptop functionality.

We like that the device is equipped with a USB-C connection for the latest, fastest data connection, although it also has a Surface Connect port and microSDX card reader.

Research and Purchase Tips

Do touchscreen laptops have more battery?

They can, but this question is more difficult than it seems. All types of laptop display settings can drain your battery, especially screen brightness.

The touchscreen uses a simple capacitive layer on the display to locate your fingers, which hardly uses any power. However, touchscreen laptops have become more complex, with more features for touch inputs to “see”, which can eliminate battery life over time. For many reasons, touchscreen laptops use their batteries faster than models without touchscreens. Oh, and disabling the touchscreen won’t matter. Most laptops simply set the screen to ignore all touches, accidental or other, but there is still a battery-draining feature.

The real reason for touchscreen laptops is poor battery life, as they are sometimes limited to high resolution configurations, such as the Dell XPS 13. A 4K screen is the primary battery-sucker here, not a touchscreen extra.

Are touchscreen laptops good for drawing?

This is a very model specific question! Some touchscreen laptops are terrible for drawing, while others are actually very good. Look for a 2-in-1 model that is compatible with a style pen (Microsoft’s Surface model, Lenovo Yoga model, etc.). Then look at the reviews carefully and see if people find that the laptop model is good for sketching and drawing. If the display is not completely flat, it is probably not a good choice as a drawing surface.

Does Apple have a touchscreen laptop?

Yes, it is called iPad Pro. We know, it’s not really a laptop, but hear us out! With mouse support and recently announced multitasking support in iPadOS, it is becoming more like a laptop by the day.

Beyond that, Apple doesn’t have any interest in making MacBooks at this time, because Apple’s designers just don’t like the idea. However, with MacOS Catalina, Apple introduced a feature called Sidecar. Sidecar allows you to connect your iPad to your MacBook so that the iPad screen shows your MacBook screen with direct syncing. You can then use Apple Pencil or your fingers to interact with the Mac app. It is particularly helpful for drawing, but can also be used for other tasks.

Are all 2-in-1 laptops touchscreen laptops?

The term “2-in-1” means that a laptop can be converted into a tablet, usually by reversing the screen or removing the keyboard (see Lenovo Yoga, HP Spector 360x, Microsoft Surface Book, and so on). Since the laptop is designed to be used as a tablet when necessary, it absolutely needs to be a touchscreen. There is no 2-in-1 laptop without touchscreen capabilities.

However, there are some clamshell laptops with touchscreens. These are standard laptops, but these have only come in the form of touch-capable displays, such as some configurations of the Surface Laptop 2 or Dell XPS 13.
