In recent times has successfully guided you to build a 4K gaming PC for less than $ 1,000, but in 2021 it is a tall order. Many components are exclusively in short supplied graphics cards. You can take a look at the recent launch of the AMD RX 6700 XT that has a modest price of $ 479 and is best suited for 1440p gaming rather than 4K – it’s already out of stock, or selling for over $ 800 is.
Still, if you get lucky for a retailer because it comes in stock, or can find a great second hand deal, it is not impossible. Here’s how you can build the best 4K gaming PC in 2021.
- 1 Build and what it can do
- 2 AMD Ryzen 3600X
- 3 ASRock B450M Pro4
- 4 Whatever you can find

- 6 WD Blue SN550 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD
- 7 Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L
Build and what it can do
We will go into more detail about the various components selected below, but here is a quick summary of the parts we have selected.
When you have your new components in hand, be sure to read our guide on how to start building your PC. You will also need a 4K monitor if you do not already have one.
|The graphics||Buy what you can get||$ ???|
|Power Supply||$ 46|
Looking at the above list of hardware you may wonder why so many budget components are listed. After all, it is a 4K gaming rig. Surely we should also have a superpower CPU and a bottleload of storage space? Indeed, when it comes to 4K gaming, the most important component is the graphics card, and everything else, even the CPU, may not hold it back unless you aim for the highest possible frame rates. . For building on a budget, we don’t.
The system is not going to play all the latest AAA games at 100 fps in 4K and ultra detail settings. Not only this, we are making goals. We are seeing a more mellow arrangement at the 30 to 60 fps mark, all at crisp 4K resolution.
4K gaming is as cheap as it is today, only that we can get that much for $ 1,000. If you do not need to be as strict as we are, however, we will offer additional options in each category so that you can spend a little more cash for a better experience.
Currently the best bang-for-the-hark gaming processor in the world, the AMD Ryzen 3600X gives you six cores, 12 threads, and a single-core boost clock of up to 4.4GHz. It also comes with its own cooler, which helps us keep costs down. We would like to add a little more expensive; However, our budget is stretched to the limit, so small amounts of extra clock speed have to be left out of our grasp.
In the future, we will undoubtedly recommend the AMD Ryzen 5000 with Zen 3 architecture, but for nowSo until we see the cheaper model on sale, we’ll stick with the AMD Zen2 family of CPUs.
The ASRock B450M Pro4 is a micro-ATX motherboard built on the B450 chipset platform that supports the features we need, and just as importantly, it comes at a very low cost. ASRock supports the single PCIe 3.0 x16 graphics slot located at the heart of our gaming PC and has support for M.2 SSD slots and DDR4 memory speeds running up to 3,200MHz. A quick glimpse at the rear of the I / O panel shows that this motherboard is typically used with APUs that feature integrated graphics; However, VRMs that dedicate the board to the CPU core in six stages, where many budget motherboards provide only four power stages. Realistically, you will run your AMD Ryzen 5 3600X on auto settings, and we believe the ASRock B450M Pro4 will be up to the task.
The only downside to this board is that it does not support third generation Ryzen processors out of the box, so you will need to update the BIOS to make it work. If you don’t have a first or second generation Ryzen processor to help you do this, AMD can send you a “boot kit” for free. Find more information about that process here.
Whatever you can find
By far the most important component in any 4K gaming rig, the graphics card does the heavy lifting and is the most expensive part for that reason. As we mentioned at the top of the page we have a dual problem as graphics cards are both expensive and very difficult to find, so when we want to suggest an AMD RX 6800 or Nvidia RTX 3070, you can get $ 800. Or will spend more. A $ 1,000 concept is manufactured in pieces.
Your best bet is to find a GPU right now, hope you are very lucky and can refresh the retailer as soon as it comes in stock. Look at the RTX 3060 Ti or RTX 3070 cards, as they seem reasonable to some extent in the largest numbers. They remain in stock for a few seconds. There are also some retailer lottery and queue systems that you can sign up on which can make the process a little easier.
We hope that the supply of the graphics card will recover, but it is not likely any time soon. If our pessimism turns out to be correct, we may be forced to drop the idea of 4K gaming at $ 1,000 and instead raise the budget to $ 1,250 or $ 1,500.
With 8GB of RAM most gaming PCs can overcome, our 4K gaming rig may struggle with less than 16GB. But we can’t choose the size over speed, because Ryzen CPUs actually benefit from faster memory. Fortunately, memory prices have decreased dramatically in recent months, so we opted for this 3,200 MHz kit from Corsair. In an ideal world, you would take your memory to a 3,733 MHz sweet spot. However, the ASRock motherboard we have chosen is unlikely to move you beyond 3,200MHz. This is not the end of the world, as a modem of extra speed is only desirable while stability is of critical importance.
High-speed storage is cheaper than it is today, so we’ve opted for the 1TB WD Blue SSD, and we’ve pushed the old school ahead of the 2.5-inch SATA drive to a proper, grown-up M.2 NVMe drive. This will give your gaming load time a useful boost, and 1TB is enough space to install a number of Windows and AAA games.
If you prefer, you can combine a small SSD with a larger hard drive and use AMD’s StoreMy technology. This lets you convert any two drives (usually an SSD and HDD) into a single storage solution – as far as Windows is concerned. That way, you get the best of both worlds: a fast, large storage drive. However it won’t be as fast as this drive, so if you can with 1TB (now at least), this is the best drive you can get for your money.
For $ 45, you can’t get a better case than the Cooler Master Masterbox Q300L. The case is under $ 50 and features a clear side panel and dust filter while still looking sleek. It is also light and has sufficient coolness – although you may want to install additional fans elsewhere in the line yourself.
We cannot believe that they can sell it at that price, but it is worth it. This mATX case is perfect for our budget 4K gaming rig.
It’s OK; We know what you’re thinking: You’re wondering if a 450W power supply could possibly be up to the job. Actually, the 450W doesn’t sound much, but this PC will likely pull 250W on the wall socket under gaming conditions, so you have a substantial amount of margin on hand. If budget is not a problem, you want to get Seasonal Focus 650 Gold, Which is close to $ 100. EVGA manages to offer you everything at a low price point.
In our testing, we found that EVGA does everything we ask. One downside is that there is not much room to upgrade it in the future, but it will still be with you for a few years.
