Serial Killers and Scream Queens Tips Clear

Friday the 13th isn’t just one of our favorite flash days of the year, it’s also the name of our favorite scream-inducing movie starring Jason Voorhees… so what other way could we celebrate today than by bringing together horror tattoos filled with sinister gore and beasts feasting on blood? By watching YouTube videos that show all the best moments from movies like IT, The Shining, Evil Dead, House of a 1000 Corpses…you know! All those cringe-worthy movie moments on the edge of your seat that have you squirming and screaming in all the right ways.

So obviously there are tons of different types of horror tattoos, many different levels of dark art, and fear…that’s part of it, right? Many of these pieces are based on movies, books, legends, stories, or concepts that have come out and been born from the depths of our greatest fears. And humans are certainly afraid of many things. Some people like typical cliched ghost stories where things come out of the dark, others like brains and blood and gore… and even others like thrillers that focus more on our psychological fears than ‘something else. Let’s face it, some people find clowns and zombies scary, while others think the scariest thing that can happen is to die alone in your apartment and no one finds you for three weeks, until that your cats have eaten your flesh and the smell of decay is finally what gets your dear deceased person noticed. To each his own, right?

We found a lot of vampires in this collection of horror tattoos, but it’s something that never goes out of style. Usually vampires are super sexy, preying on humans with lusty animal sex appeal until they’re wooed into a submissive state that makes the blood sucking a little easier. Then there’s IT’s Pennywise, which people love to get tattooed on themselves… and don’t get me wrong… we loved Tim Curry, and Bill Skarsgard’s shots are mind ( how can someone so cute get to such damn depths?) …but we can’t quite imagine having one of those ultra hyperrealistic horror tattoos under our sheets. Not in the dark, and certainly not in the morning when we haven’t had our coffee yet. Especially not Pennywise… that scene where you see the headlights and the rows of teeth and hear the screams? Yeah, we’d get catatonic too. By the way… did you know that there is actually a real clown parents can hire to terrify their kids? It’s called Rides.

Of course, we also had to include some classic Hollywood scream queens…and while we realize that means actresses who’ve worked on so many horror movies, they’re almost entirely associated with that particular genre. But in this case, we’ve pulled off some of the supreme glories of Hollywood horror: Vincent Price and The Shining. The spooky scenes in The Shining might feel dated now, but what we’re still really interested in isn’t just the blood, murder, and ghosts. It’s the psychological overtones: going so mad you’d kill your own family. Either way, horror movie tattoos are another total choice for this style.
We’re actually really excited for the new version of ‘Doctor Sleep’… it’s always nice to see Ewan McGregor appear in these characters you would never expect, but it’s also going to be really interesting to see the sequel Of the history. In fact, it seems Stephen King has inspired more horror tattoos than anyone, ever. Like… what is this guy actually doing? ! He is an endless pool of depravity, death, and mind-boggling evil. We’d love to know what freaks Stephen King out…if computing feeds on your innermost fears, what would it look like to Stephen King? Ideas? Email us at hello@tattoodo.com or upload your favorite horror tattoo to our app! We always love to see your ink!
