Power and installation
Both of these doorbells are hard-wired, which means that you will need existing doorbell wiring to work correctly. The good news is that most homes have simple wiring already installed, making installation easy. If you do not have the necessary wiring, contact an electrician or choose a different video doorbell solution.
As long as you have wiring, you should be able to do the installation yourself. How do you install a ring video doorbell like these? You simply turn off the power in the door area, disconnect the old bell, connect the two low voltage wires, and then stick the door bell to the wall or trim. In most cases, it will be a simple and quick installation or swap.
With the Pro 2, you can use your existing doorbell and attach the included Pro Kit to it. With Video Doorbell Wired, you bypass the chimes of your doorbell and use your phone or Alexa devices to receive notifications. You can add on a chime to your ring video doorbell wired for an additional cost.

Video resolution is the sharpness and clarity of the video feed from your doorbell camera. Most doorbell cameras on the market are HD (1080p) and provide a crisp, detailed video view.
The Ring Video Doorbell Wired features HD video with night vision; However, the new Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 slightly adjusts the resolution to make it 1536p HD video (plus night vision), giving it just a touch more sharpness. The resolution upgrade also goes with a feature, dubbed-to-head video, that can show you not only a middlewall view, but also the top and bottom of the ground, meaning being able to tell you Whether there is a box left at your door.
Winner: Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2We like the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2, with enhanced resolution and head-to-toe viewing.
The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 has some advanced features and some additional capabilities over the basic but effective Ring Video Doorbell Wired.
While Ring Video Doorbell Wired features HD video, two-way talk, motion detection and alert, plus smart home and digital assistant compatibility, the new Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 goes beyond this.
Unlike Ring Doorbell Wired, the Pro 2 will give voice to your existing Doorbell Chaim. It also adds HD audio for a more natural talking experience, resolution is slightly better, plus (as noted above) it has 3D motion detection.
3D M0tion detection uses radar to measure the distance of an object, so the camera starts recording only when someone is within the range you choose. Ring adds that 3D motion detection provides better motion alerts, while minimizing unnecessary alerts while providing timely notifications.
Winner: Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2
While Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a good product, the edge features additional video and viewing options for the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2.
Size and design
These two video doors look very similar. They are both small, narrow and largely unobtrusive. They will both fit easily into smaller spaces, although the Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 is a hair taller. The Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 measures 4.49 inches long by 1.9 inches wide and 0.87 inches thick, while the Ring Video Doorbell Wired is 3.98 inches long, 1.8 inches wide and 0.88 inches thick.
With a similar design, both of these doors would be a good choice for smaller areas.
For those just entering the video doorbell market, price may be a major consideration. After all, no one wants to leave large sums of money on brand-new technology just to be disappointed. When comparing these two video doors, there is a substantial difference in price.
Ring Video Doorbell Wired sells for $ 60, while Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 sells for $ 250. Whether this cost difference for you will depend on a few factors: Do you need a wider field of view and head-to-toe video? Worth a small increase in resolution and HD audio for you? Do you want the sound of your existing doorbell, or are you okay with using Alexa for notifications? How important are extra bells and whistles? For the most part, most users will probably feel great about going with Ring Video Doorbell Wired. It has all the features you need at a fraction of the cost. If you are upgrading from a more basic or older doorbell and are looking for alerts and features then you can dial in a bit more precisely, Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 is for you.
