It is very rare for new consoles to release without any kind of problem. As early adopters the best we can hope for is that they are minors and not as serious as the infamous red ring of death that plagued the early version of the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, Sony’s PlayStation 5, or more specifically the dualdisk controller, received too much negative attention for a fault in the joystick. The issue of the joystick drift is almost identical to that seen with Nintendo’s joycons, in that case called the JoyCon drift, except that it appears very early in the controller’s life.
If you are noticing problems with your Dualvis joystick, there are a few ways you can try to repair it yourself. A flowing joystick essentially renders your game unexpectedly, and having it repaired or replaced can leave your console with no day to enjoy, and the cost of a new one can be reduced. Before going through any of them, here’s how to fix the joystick drift on the PS5.
What is joystick drift?
If you are unfamiliar with the term, joystick drift occurs when your controller behaves as if you are pushing one or both joysticks in a specific direction, even when you are not touching the controller. In-game, it can make your character appear as spinning or walking in one direction continuously, or cycling through menu options that are out of your control. This happens with dualindus controllers because the sensors under the stick are either triggered by something or fail at the software or mechanical level. The former two may be able to solve on their own with these tips, while the latter you cannot.
First of all, do No Attempt to open your dualicon controller. Even if you do this carefully, opening it will void your warranty, meaning that if none of the other fixes work here, you won’t be returning it for a new one. Will find There is no reason to go in until the problem is mechanical, in which case you won’t have the parts to fix it anyway, so keep your screwdriver aside for now.
Also, and we’ll mention it again when we arrive at the cleaning section, but be sure to clean your controller thoroughly. This means that we do not saturate it with water, or make it really wet. It is an electronic device, after all, and you can easily do more damage that way. Rubbing alcohol in small amounts, applying properly, is more than enough.
Finally, and it is a good rule not to follow anything, be kind to your controller. We all have moments of gamer anger sometimes, but never land it on our controller. A bad toss or drop can permanently damage the interior or exterior. Even thickening with sticks can harvest issues faster.
Reset your duplication
Let’s start with easy fixes to solve the issue of joystick drift quickly and easily. Resetting your doubling does not happen by turning it off and on; There is actually a hidden reset button that will completely refresh your controller. Look behind your DualSense for a small hole where the reset button is hidden. You will need something like a paperclip to slowly insert and hold the button for five seconds. After restarting it, wire your controller back to the PS5 and see if drift is still present.
Reset your bluetooth
If resetting the controller does not work, you can try turning Bluetooth on and off. It is less likely to cause drift, but is still worth a try, as there is some interference. To turn off your Bluetooth, go to Settings> Accessories> Controllers> Communication Method And then hit Turn off bluetooth. Once the connection is disabled, wait a few moments and then turn it back on and test it.
Update your PS5 and controller
The console is most frequently updated for launch to fix such issues and bugs, so it is possible that your controller or console may be a lapse that will remove the drift. If you hardware it in your PS5, your controller will prompt you to update. To make sure your PS5 is on the current patch, go to Settings> System> System Software Updates and Settings> System Software Update Choose more Update using internet. Your console will then check to see if it has the latest update and apply it if not. If you get an update, wait for it to be installed, reboot your console, and see if the drift is gone.
Clean your joystick
Cleaning your controller regularly should be a normal part of your routine to ensure that it is functional, but given how many new systems you are in, this has not yet been done. It is very easy for dust, grime and oils to seep through our hands and wreak havoc inside our controllers in a short time. If the wrongly sized piece of debris ends up in the wrong place under your thumb, it can easily cause drift.
The best and safest way to clean your controller is with a cotton swab, some rubbing alcohol, and compressed air. Before you clean it, just make sure that your dualdisk is turned off. Give it once with compressed air, spraying the thumb in short bursts as your spin in a full circle. Next, use your cotton swab and just a dab of alcohol and run it along the edges of the base of your analog stick. Let it dry for a few minutes and then give it a shot.
Adjust dead zone
This is not such a complete solution as it is a trivial and conditional measure. Some games call you “Dead Zone” in the controller settings. This is the speed limit where you can move the stick in the game Used to Register any movement. If the drift is not too extreme, then you can fix it by adjusting the dead zone in specific games, so that the amount the controller flows naturally is not picked up by the game. The downside is that it is going to go on a case-by-case basis, depending on the game. Not all games offer this, and unfortunately, you can’t adjust the dead zone on the PS5 itself to apply to all games.
Return it or send it for repair
If all else fails, you have no choice but to replace or repair your DualDesign controller. Depending on the retailer you have purchased your controller or console, or if you have not purchased any type of warranty or not, your best option is to get a replacement from the same retailer. If all is in order, then you needed Be able to get it in and get a replacement on the spot.
If you cannot get a replacement from the retailer, or you purchased it directly from Sony, then you need to visit the official PlayStation Fix and Replacement site. Sony offers a one-year warranty on DualInson, but it has some drawbacks. After confirming that you have tried to solve the problem with the troubleshooting steps provided by them, which we have also covered in this guide, you will have to pay in the box and send them to your faulty controller . Once they get it, Sony estimates a 7- to 10-business-day timeframe for them to improve it, and then actually returns to you to wait for it. Overall, you can live without your dualdisk for more than two weeks, but it will be repaired and is cheaper than buying a replacement on its own.
