Disney Confirms Finding Nemo Submarines ARE Reopening! –

After plenty of fan speculation, a delayed reopening date, and over a year-long closure, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland Park will be reopening. Here’s what we know!

The submarine attraction at Disneyland is historic. The submarines have been at the Happiest Place on Earth for decades. Although, in recent years, they have undergone some changes — and, of course, a Finding Nemo-inspired retheme — many Guests continue to ride this attraction, whenever it is available. The submarines have been closed for quite some time now and did not reopen with the rest of the theme park on April 30, 2021. But whether or not this is your favorite Disney ride, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage will, in fact, reopen sometime in the future.

Specifically, the ride is reopening in winter 2021.

The news was first reported by Wonders of Magic on Instagram, who took to social media on Monday to share a photo of the construction walls near the ride. The signage clearly says, “Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage — Resurfacing Winter 2021.” Take a look:

Many fans speculated that we may have seen the end of the submarines at Disneyland as they are not exactly pandemic-friendly. Social distancing measures were strictly enforced when Disneyland and Disney California Adventure reopened on April 30, and parties were separated on attractions. For the first several weeks after Disneyland Resort reopened the theme park gates, you would not see multiple parties loaded in the same attraction vehicle. So, from that perspective, it didn’t seem practical for Disney to operate the submarines, which require Guests to sit in very close quarters. It is essentially impossible to enforce social distancing on this attraction.

Now, however, social distancing measures have ended. The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is still listed as “Temporarily Unavailable” on the official Disneyland website, as you can see below, but the signage inside the theme park indicates that we have not seen the end of this attraction. It looks like Disney is gearing up to reopen the submarines in the Tomorrowland Lagoon, which will bring yet another attraction back to Disneyland Park and give Guests even more to enjoy at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Oddly, the attraction is not listed as “Closed for Refurbishment” on the Park Hours calendar on the Disneyland website at the time of this article’s publication.

An exact opening date has not yet been announced for Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, but we will report back when Disney shares any official updates.
