There are almost 20 restaurants in Disney Springs — and that’s not counting counter-service locations. That is a lot of Cast Members making your Disney dining experience memorable. However, sometimes one Cast Member stands out and helps truly bring the magic to your meal. For The Boathouse Restaurant, that special Cast Member is Justin Isaac, The Boathouse Employee of the Year!
The Boathouse shared the exciting announcement and how much Justin means to their team on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Justin began working at The Boathouse restaurant as a host in May 2021, and quickly excelled in his new role. He was selected as Employee of the Year for his outstanding optimism during the Covid-19 pandemic and was rewarded for that optimism in May, when he was offered the job of host, on the spot during his interview at the Boathouse. Justin’s exemplary work ethic, combined with the support of his Best Buddies Jobs Employment Consultant, Tim Loulan, and the support of the restaurant staff, allowed him to quickly learn his role as host at the restaurant.
“Justin has been everything that we look for in a participant for our Best Buddies Jobs program, said Tim Loulan, Employment Consultant for Best Buddies International. “He comes to work every day with the right attitude, always has a smile on his face and goes above and beyond to make sure his job is done correctly. He’s made my job that much easier by simply just wanting to succeed in his role and making the effort day after day to put his best foot forward. Additionally, the support Justin has at The Boathouse from his managers and coworkers has been truly amazing to watch. They’ve rallied around him to make sure he’s comfortable in his role and are paving the way for him to be successful for a long time to come.”
Justin first got this job when he participated in the Best Buddies International program. Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that works to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain employment, create long-lasting friendships, and create environments where they can successfully live in an independent atmosphere.
Justin’s hard work ethic and great personality make him a friend to all other Cast Members at The Boathouse. Justin’s manager, Scott, can’t say enough positive things about him, as has quickly become essential to the restaurant.
“Justin is a fantastic hire for us, he has such a great attitude and desire to be here — it is refreshing to see,” said Boathouse Assistant General Manager Scott Lagrimanta. “Justin is one of the first impressions that our customer’s see at the door and then he escorts them to their table. This task isn’t as easy as it seems since we have 198 tables in the restaurant, so Justin has memorized the table numbers and is extremely efficient at navigating through the restaurant and making sure the customers end up at the correct table. He is always on time and in uniform and I feel will be a great asset to the team for a long time.”
The Boathouse Restaurant opened in April 2015 and has been a Disney Springs hotspot ever since. The relaxed environment, delicious food, and incredible Cast Members make it a “must-eat” location for many visitors. For those who have not been to The Boathouse, but are interested in what the restaurant has to offer, here is what the Disney World website has to say about the eatery:
Savor the best of land and sea—from fresh fish and a raw bar to premium steaks, chops, pasta and more. In addition, the BOATHOUSE also offers a more casual outdoor menu of sandwiches, burgers and lobster rolls. Save some room for key lime pie in a mason jar, s’mores baked Alaska or one of the other divinely decadent desserts.
Need an escape? Head to the Captain’s Raw Bar, the Admiral’s Club Bar or the Dock Bar to sip classic craft cocktails or select a rare vintage from the BOATHOUSE’s extensive wine list—add some mouthwatering oysters on the half shell to complement the gorgeous waterfront views. After, take a stroll along the picturesque boardwalk that connects all areas of the restaurant—including 3 nautically themed rooms and 2 private dining rooms.
