Since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ve enjoyed hours in the game from Halloween to New Year’s Eve. You have also given a lot of time for crafting, decoration and terraforming. Brands new to the game will quickly learn that they have some inaccessible parts of the island. If they plan to explore it completely they will need to build a ladder. This guide will explain how to craft a ladder in the initial stages Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Invite villagers to your island
It will take at least three days to unlock the ladder, but it all starts by inviting a new villager to your island. Using a Nook Mile ticket, head to Dodo Airlines and book a flight to a new island. Once at your destination, you will find another villager wandering off the shore. After talking with them for some time, you will have the option to invite them back to your city. Even if you do not want that particular villager as a permanent resident, we would recommend inviting them to live with you anyway – you will need to start the process of unlocking the ladder. Also, you can always remove them later.
Build a bridge for your island
Now that you have invited some villagers back to your city, Tom Nook will eventually approach you with a proposal – he would like you to build a new bridge to the city. Gather the necessary materials – log stakes, mud and stones – then craft your wooden bridge and place it on a stream. Now you will have access to a new part of the island. Nevertheless, there is no way to reach higher elevations in areas of your city.
Take out the plots for your new residents
Once you finish building your bridge, talk with Tom Nook and wait for him to assign you another task. This is a bit time consuming – you have to prepare three plots for new homes and many different furniture for future homeowners.
Walk around your island and keep all three plots. Exact location is not necessary, but make sure you like them. Otherwise, you will have to spend thousands of Bells to transfer them later in the game. When the task is complete, you will get a call from Tom Nook. You will be informed that some of the craft you want should depend only on the resources available in the rocks – a problem for anyone without a ladder. Tom Nook will realize the issue and pass along its recipe. For the final step, go to Resident Services, where you will be able to build your own ladder with four pieces of wood, hardwood and softwood.
All told, this process will take about four days to complete. If you are ready for time travel by modifying your switch date, you can possibly finish the whole process in the afternoon. Unlike other devices in new HorizonsThe ladder is unbreakable. This means that you don’t have to worry about being stranded in the forest after climbing a cliff.
