Honestly refreshing. At a time when so many luxury vehicles emphasize record-setting lap time, in-the-face styling and overcomplicated tech, this updated SUV chart is a different course. Cushy and serene, Nautilus is a rolling sanctuary, and it does not pretend to be anything else.

This utility vehicle received a non-installable update for 2021, a remodeling that has made a respectable vehicle even better, though you’ll be hard pressed to tell based on its exterior. Nautilus has a tough style, and I mean hardly Turned. It achieves a modified lower grille section with cross-body chrome strip and re-working fog lights. Three new colors join the palette, including Flight Blue, Green Gem, and Asher Gray, wearing this example. My tester is also ready with an optional monochromatic package. Among other things, it features black colored 20-inch wheels and body-colored upper grille inserted for a sporty look.
Exterior changes are minimal, but the 2021 Nautilus’s most significant updates are reserved for the interior. This SUV now has a cabin that looks almost the same as you would find in other Lincoln SUVs,, And . The new dashboard is much more horizontal than before, curving slowly as it extends from column to column. The Nautilus also gets Lincoln’s signature piano-key gear gear selector, which is neatly mounted under center air and feels like high-quality accessories with other switches and controls.
Jumping off the dashboard is the most eye-popping SUV for the 2021: a massive 13.2-inch touchscreen, the largest to be found in any Lincoln. With vibrant colors, good contrast, and great viewing angles, this display is easy to reach and look great, so that if you don’t think it’s dead, it doesn’t get washed out. It is the perfect canvas for a Sync4 infotainment system, which runs on a visual theme called Constellation, which was inspired by the evening sky and has subtle blue and orange accents. Most of the time this system responds to jokes and swipes instantly, plus the user interface is very simple. I appreciate the little sparkle animation when you touch one of the primary icons at the bottom of the screen. Wireless, of courseAs well as Are supported.
Nautilus’s infotainment system is super-intuitive like many other controls. This is a snap to reconfigure a digital instrument cluster or find a point of interest in a navigation system. Everything is simple to operate, something that reduces stress and pilots this SUV that offers a lot of comfort.
Further enhancing the drive, some Nautilus models can be fitted with a Rockin ’19-speaker Revol sound system. But even the standard 13-speaker rev arrangement offers sled, distortion-free bass, and crisp heights, no matter how much you crank it.
Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 Suite Driver Assistance is standard across three trim levels of this vehicle and includes blind spot monitoring with automatic high beam, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist and more.The Co-Pilot 360 Plus is optional on the midrange reserve trim and is standard on the top-shelf Black Label model. Among other things, it gets front parking sensors, eavesd steering assist, 360-degree camera system and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability as well as lane centering. Unfortunately, the laughter of that camera array is minimal, although the adaptive cruise control system works very well, keeping the Nautilus on its intended course and matching the speed of the surrounding traffic. It handles stop-and-go congestion easily, easily rolls to a halt and is holding the vehicle until you are ready to go again. When traffic starts moving, just press the reset button.
Other technology includes an available wireless charging pad and Lincoln’s handy phone-a-key system. This allows you to leave the fob at home and access your nautilus from a mobile device; It also allows you to lock and unlock the vehicle, open the hatch or windows, and start the engine, among other things.
The Nautilus features a lot of technology, but some features are missing, things like rear camera mirrors, night vision and head-up displays. These items are available on other vehicles, including the Nautilus’ primary rival..
This Reserve Trim’s cabin is well done, comfortable and made of premium materials, although I could do with less chrome accents. There is no shortage of soft leather, and the red wood trim on the dashboard really pops against the black background. Hands down, I like this interior XT5 more, although And Still has an edge.
They may not be as over-the-top as 30-perfect position seats that you can find in other looks, but Nautil’s Ultra Comfort Chairs are about to be adjusted in about 22 directions. They support heat and ventilation, power headrests and expandable thighs and can even massage your butt and back. Despite the excellent seats, the driving position of this vehicle is a bit awkward for tall people like me. You sit too much on the captain’s chair and the paddles are awkwardly annoyed and a little too close. However, short people will find this setup perfect.
Steering replacement passengers are sure to enjoy the spacious and comfortable backseat of the Nautilus. When it is time for the cargo, this Lincoln offers more than one place.And there is a distinct advantage over the Q5, XC60 and XT5, with 37.2 cubic feet of rear-facing room and a lower 68.8.
Worst of both worlds
The rear of the rear front end of the Nautilus is one of two engines. There is a 2.0-liter turbo-four base powerplant, which can be paired with front- or all-wheel drive. Providing greater performance, however, is the available 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6. A complete honeycomb, it offers 335 horsepower and a stort 380 pound-feet of torque, which all go to the pavement via an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel-drive. Incredibly smooth and almost silent, this engine feels fantastic, pulling with authority throughout the rev range, giving Lincoln a very quick feel.
Helping deliver that admirable performance, the eight-speed transmission is mostly agreed upon, swapping gears quickly, though it may feel uneven. The quality of the upshift is sometimes irregular, and sometimes it is a bit clunky when you roll to a stop.
From that force-fed V6, 19 miles per gallon around the city and 25 mpg on the highway are expected. Combined, the Nautilus is rated at 21 mpg, although unsurprisingly, according to the travel computer, I’m beating in real world driving by about 2 mpg – and with a heavier leg, I might add.
The steering of the Nautilus is soft and light, but not as much as you might imagine. Yes, the road feels lacking, but the wheel is properly tuned for a vehicle that favors refinement on sportiness. Surprisingly, the body roll in the corners is almost zero.
The 2021 Nautilus delivers outstanding performance and hinges on speed, but one part of its dynamics leaves much to be desired: the ride. Somehow engineers in the worst of both worlds, ironically, this example is both soft and harsh at the same time. It can feel slightly floating on braking surfaces with very exaggerated body motions (at very high squats and dives), but this softness is greatly affected by small roadway malfunctions. Piles of joints and frost, which you feel in high fidelity. I don’t expect Mercedes-AMG level control here, but the ride needs to be more gentle and better button-down. Perhaps the available adaptive suspension, which does not fit with this example, does a better job ironing things.

The 2021 Lincoln Nautilus starts at a little under $ 445, including a delivery fee of $ 995. In contrast, Lincoln Nautilus knows what it is and does not pretend to be anything else.
